Building an app takes a lot of time, after coming home from a full-time job, you still have to make time to work on an app.

But then getting the word out about your app is not easy either. It seems that this will be as much work as the programming itself. At first the plan was to upload the app to the Play Store and build a website, and hope that people will discover the app. Apparently that is not how it works.

It is time for a new strategy. But first, since there are no users yet of the app it is time to take a good look at the code and see if there are any possibilities for improvement.

Social media, apps and the internet in general are some great tools we have in the twentyfirst century. Sadly it seems that they are both over-used and used in the wrong way by many people.

I think that all the chatApps should be used mainly as a way of scheduling a face to face meeting with people. We humans are wired to have a certain amount of social contact, and social contact means face to face meetings, not chatting. It is important that you interact enough with people whitout the use of a smartphone or computer.

The other app's, social media and internet in general is wildley over-used by many people it seems. We spend so much time using them that it really starts to hurt our education, productivity and personal growth. The algoritmes behind many websites are programmed to get as much attention from us as possible, because the more attention we give them the more they get payed for advertisments. I think it is time that we learn to deal with the technology we are given in a smart way and give it a proper place in our lives.

Of course this will sound a bit hypocriet coming from a guy who made an app from his laptop at home. The point of this app is to bring people with simular interests together to meet and challange each other and learn from each other. There is also no algoritme learning your personality and then giving you the events that it thinks will be interesting for you, everybody gets to see the same events, depending on the location you have set.

I hope this app can be a good thing that will help us enrich our lives and not get us even more addicted to the screen.

Something the app doesn't have (yet), are notifications. At the moment I won't add them, because I think they will give me problems later on in the process if I add them now. But I am also not convinced that every app should have notifications. Many people spend way to much time with their smartphones, and having every single app send notifications for the smallest thing isn't helping that situation. There is off course a good reason to do it as well. Your app will get used more with notifications, it will grow faster if you do use them. But I think that you should start the app to check for updates rather than get informed of every small change. At the moment the app will stay without, I can always add them later on if I change my mind or if I get many questions about it.

This is an app that I have made from my laptop at home. I have been running some tests on my phone and the phones of some friends and family and it seems to be working well so far. If there would be any bugs or problems you encounter while using this app, please let me know at info@simpleeventsapp.com. In this blog I plan on keeping you updated on the amount of users and the changes to the app.

Thanks for reading this first short blog, and hopefully I will have some (good) news soon to share with you.
